The culture from Bonnannaro.

Dating.

Around 1800 B.C.

Name and context.
It takes the name from the Bonnannaro village (Sassari) where in 1889 a tomb has accidentally found. This culture is present in just a few villages, never characterised by pure elements but always in preliminary situations, often mixed with the culture of S. Michele’s elements.
Maybe this culture preferred to settle down in the areas once inhabited by the ancient populations of the Copper and First Bronze Age, for natural prosecution or after conquest.

Features.
The culture from Bonnannaro is characterised only by typical ceramics. All the other elements are exactly the same of the previous settlements.
This culture is mainly present in funerary places, taking the name of “dead culture”. The Domus de janas are very common, the ceramics are completely smooth and undecorated, made of a dark blend and with handles. The shape is always very simple and indefinite.
In summary this culture is quite rough, essential and severe in its grave goods. It’s possible to also trace other cultures’ traces, such as:
• the Spanish culture from El Argar
• the Italian culture from Gaudo-Rinaldone
