First contacts
Recent archaeological excavations have brought to light numerous evidences of continuous contacts between Sardinia and Cyprus, mostly regarding elegant metal works. Such a technology has been incessantly used during the Late Bronze Age (1300-900 B.C.).

Why Cypriots arrived in Sardinia
The oldest processed iron found in the western Mediterranean area comes from the Nuraghe Antigori in Sarroch (Cagliari). Because of the iron being almost missing in Cyprus, Sardinia was the closest destination where join expert craftsmen and create an advanced technological context.

The “lost wax” technique
In Sardinia there’s been an early introduction of the bronze melting, using the “lost wax” technique. It consists of the following steps:
• The metalworker makes his work using wax or clay covered with wax.
• The work is then covered with clay.
• The work is left to dry and then baked.
• The wax melts and creates a sort of mould
• The melt bronze is then poured in the mould.
This technique is also used for the Nuraghic bronze statuettes made before 900 B.C.
