Dating.
The Phoenician colonization took place between the last decades of the VIII century and the first half of the VII B.C, preceded by commercial contacts and in the wake of the Cypriot-Mycenaean sailings.

Involved territories.
The first settlement is in Sulci (S. Antioco), followed before the end of the VII century B. C. by Karalis (Cagliari), Nora, Bithia (Tower of Chia) and Tharros. The Phoenicians used to settle down in small islands or promontories and from there they used to trade lead and copper acquired from the local populations. The settlements in the inland are quite rare, with the significant exceptions in the area of Monte Sirai and Pani Loriga.

Imports.
Numerous exotic products have been found in the island such as bronze cauldrons and torch holders, fine Greek and Etruscan crockery and jars containing perfumed oil, all probably made in the same regions. The products have been found in the Phoenician settlements, mainly inside or near the burial places, and in the indigenous inland settlements.
