The Vandals in Sardinia.
The Vandals invaded Italy around 400 A.C. and in the 455 pillaged Rome. Then the Genserico’s troops, the king of the Vandals, landed and occupied Sardinia.

Beginning of the Medieval Age.
The Ancient Age stops with the Vandalic invasions and the Medieval Age has its start. Such a domination lasted for about hundred year, until the Byzantine conquest.

The strategic conquest.
The Vandals carefully considered the strategic position of Sardinia and therefore occupied and fortified only the coastal area, fearing for other Barbarian populations’ raids. They were not interested on the inland, deeply exploited by the previous dominations.

Organization.
The Vandals and their government aggravated the already unprosperous situation of the Sardinia island. They left a military governor in charge and the corruption lasted for 80 years. But for the Sardinian population there was another foreign domination: the Byzantines settled down in the island as new dominators.
