The culture from Bonuighinu.

Dating and denomination.
During the Middle Neolithic (3.800-3200 B.C) the culture from Bonuighinu flourishes, taking the name from the cave nearby Sassari where the first traces have been found.

Features.
People from Bonuighinu used to cultivate the wheat and to tame the animals. They used to live in the caves, but they have also been the first Sardinians to build huts and villages. In this period the dead were buried in man-made caves, quite numerous in Sardinia and called 電omus de janas� (fairy痴 house).
The ceramic vases made by people from Bonuighinu are fine and elegant, with thin and polished walls, sometimes decorated.
Quite important is the Goddess Mother cult as testified by the feminine statuettes with a fat shape, representing the nature and made of stone, clay and bone.

Goddesses.
Besides the ceramics, the statuettes representing goddesses are also quite peculiar in this period. They are mostly made of soft stones or alabaster, clay and bone, following a precise scheme: cylindroid head and a fat body with arms crossed around the breast or outstretched on the hips.


The culture of S. Ciriaco.

3400-3200 B.C.

Evidences.
Quite recently a new cultural element has been considered and called San Ciriaco, situated between the culture from Bonuighinu and the following culture from Ozieri. The culture of San Ciriaco is mainly characterised by a great production of vases perfectly made. The most interesting evidences have been found around open settlements such as Cuccuru S但rrius in Cabras and Torre Foghe in Tres Nuraghes.
