La Barbagia di Seulo
(Seui, Ussassai, Osini, Ulassai, Barisardo, Loceri, Lanusei)
The following itinerary will allow you to discover one of the most extraordinary natural environments in Sardinia.  After having followed along the southern part of the Flumendosa basin, the road runs between the river canyon on the right and the high, wild, uncontaminated Cuccuru Mufloni and Mount Tonneri mountains, just below the natural cyclopean tower of Perda Liana.  As the name "Pietra Piatta" (Flat Stone) suggests, it's a very big, stony table-land that shelters big game.  The whole area offers extraordinary views of flocks of bird crossing the numerous valleys.  You might also run into wild boars and mouflon.
To be noted in the middle of Barbagia di Seulo, is the well-known village of Seui.  Seui is famous most of all for its renowned wine.  Its position is quite peculiar, characterised by slopes and rises.  The village offers delicious gastronomic products.  People from Seui are known for being very enterprising: as a matter of fact they own numerous shops and pubs all over Sardinia.
Following along the road, you'll find the characteristic villages of Osini and Ulassai surrounded by rocky mountains.  Near Ulassai are the wonderful caves of "Su Murmuri".  Visiting them takes at least three hours and requires a guide.
Continuing your trip, you'll find the village of Ierzu, capital of the very famous "Cannonau" wines, largely exported all over the world.
Travelling along the hairpin bends and the incredibly charming horizon of the sea, you'll arrive at Lanusei, capital of Ogliastra.  Lanusei is a very pretty village, with beautiful mansions, tidy squares and many tourist resorts.  As matter of fact, it's most appreciated for its wild nature, its mild temperatures and for its proximity to the sea.  We highly recommend going for a walk in the nearby parks, the most famous one called Selene.  We also suggest tasting the delicious, gastronomic products from the sea and from the shepherding industry.
