観光スポットThe Castle of SanluriSanluri
Sixty years ago there were only ruins.  Its destiny was to be shattered unless Count Nino Villa Santa, brave general during the war and Gabriele D'Annunzio's friend, decided to transform the Castle into a museum.
The fortress, built in the fourteenth-century, used to be Eleonora D'Arborea's house and the future of the Giudicato of Cagliari was also decided inside these walls.
Emanuele Filiberto, Duke of Aosta supported the idea of creating an important and inimitable museum, where the history of the Risorgimento could be remembered through relics of historical value.  Therefore, the Duke's entire collection was transferred from Capodimonte Palace to Sanluri as a reward to Sardinia who lost numerous lives during the war.
In the 1927, the "Risorgimental Museum in memory of Sardinians who died away from their homeland" was constituted by the restoration of this medieval structure.  General Villa Santa worked very hard on the project and collected all of the relics for the exhibition.  Today the museum is an important and unique reality.
In it, you'll find the original flag that waved on San Giusto's tower in Trieste the 3rd of November 1918, when the city became Italian.  You'll also find the original war bulletin announcing the war's victory and bearing the original signature of General Diaz.  In the museum, the leaflets that Gabriele D'Annunzio dropped from the plane during his famous flight over Vienna in 1918, are also conserved.
