Excursion Mean time of duration: from about three up to about 4 hours
From Alghero we reach Fertilia, and after having crossed the cycle track, it begins our excursion off-road, taking one of the old roads used during the II° World War to reach the various bunkers and other constructions scattered in the area (some still in good shape).
Along the route it is possible to observe from the top the nuragic village of Palmavera (that takes the name from the homonym mountain), composed by a principal tower of 8 meters high and 10 meters of diameter, with 40 huts distributed in confused way, some of which by now no more visible (complex datable between the X and the VII sec. b.c.)
The slope is not difficult, both as inclination and as road surface; in reality there is a part alone to do afoot (for the presence of rocks and gravel), where at the end, it is possible to admire the panorama of the promontory of Capocaccia, the bay of Porto Conte and the reefs of Porto Ferro and Porticciolo.
After the brief standstill we continue in the Pine Forest, it reaches slightly downhill, the asphalted road that brings to the summit of the Dolla mountain (436 meters); but our route diverts on dirt road, to reach the about 250 meters a.s.l., where a small covered roof terrace is found, used by the forest ranger; from here the airport can be observed, the pond of Calik, the agricultural zone, Fertilia and in distance the bay of Alghero.
Then we return to the preceding asphalted road, where it has beginning another amusing and not difficult off-road downhill, that brings to a small nuraghe, unfortunately not accessible, and for half covered by the vegetation.
We re-enter in the city, flanking the Pine Forest of Maria Pia and the beaches of Lido.
