THE GIANTS' GRAVE OF CODDU VECCHIU
This remarkably well-preserved monument, the highest of this type in Sardinia, is on the street to Luogosanto a few kilometres away from Arzachena.
It is made up by a big slab, 4m high and 1,90m large, located in front of the laminated corridor grave (also called 田orridor dolmen"), which is 10m long. In front of the slab there is an exedra made up by large stones stuck in the ground.
The grave dates back to 2500 b. C.: in 1800 b. C. it was used as a collective burying-place by the people from Bonannaro and in the Nuragic time (1600 b. C.) it was annexed a slab and a semicircular exedra and it got the external walls rebuilt.
On the stately monolith there is a carved fake door, a leitmotiv in the Sardinian prehistory symbolising the next world.
