The Motorra Dolmen
THE "MOTORRA" DOLMEN

Dolmens are prehistoric sepulchral monuments composed of two or more vertical stones covered by a large slab. The name stems from northern European cultures.
In Sardinia there are numerous, even though small, Dolmens, especially in the mountain areas. Particularly, in the area of Dorgali they are 14, 6 of which  still intact. The most important Dolmen is the one of Motorra, which dates back to the Copper Age (2100 b. C.) and is made up by eight basaltic stones stuck in the ground and sheltered by a bigger round one.

Getting there:

Take the 125 to Dorgali through Orosei. Before getting to 207th km take the road on your left hand side, park and walk along the narrow path for about 400m. You will get to a wooden gate which is the entrance to the site.
