Portoscuso. South west coast. Region Basso Sulcis prov. of Cagliari distant from principal town 70Km. Panorama Hotel, open all year round and is situated in the heart of Portoscuso, a picturesque resort on the South Western coast of Sardinia, opposite the Islands of San Pietro and Sant'Antioco. It is possible to visit the old Tonnara in the centre of the village with the equipment to the mattanza of the tune. To visit the Aragonese tower and at a few km, the nuragic village of Seruci, with some huts. Travelling along the S.S 126 you arrive to archaeological area of Monte Sirai, from the plateau is well visible the town of Carbonia, distant due km, founded within two years 1936/38, in the time of exploitation of deposit of coal. The town is the most important example of the mining centre planned of Italy. In the neighborhood you can find a mine in activity: Nuraxi Figus.. In Carbonia to visit into the park the Archaeological Museum "Villa Sulcis", not far from the park the is the Museum Carboniense of Palaeontology and Speleology. Half day to visit Iglesias, that you can find covering the SS 126, to see the Museum of Mining Art (Via Roma, 47). From Iglesias a diversion to the coast of few Km, once an exclusive mining line, with interesting remains as the abandoned mines of Monteponi, S.Benedetto, S.Giovanni. Going to Masua and Nebida is visible the area of the Mine of Porto Flavia, with a beautiful panorama. From Masua besides you can admire the tall rock called Pan di Zucchero for the shaped and the snow-white colour limestone.
