Torre dei Corsari

Torre dei Corsari is a marvellous seaside locality in the heart of the "Cosa Verde" the green coast, the  south-western coast of  Sardinia, that extends for approximately 50 km which owes its name to its glorious vegetation. As well as the luxuriant green landscape the coast is characterised by breathtaking beaches and cliffs.
The name Torre dei Corsari is due to the presence of the old tower of  Flumentorgiu  which was once used by the Spanish in 1600 for sighting Algerian and Tunisian pirates.
The beach of  Torre dei Corsari  is large and varied, long stretches of sandy beach alternate with small coves nd rocks. The village is made up of small villas immersed in a beautiful vegetation and spectacular views. The small  main piazza of the village has become  a meeting point where  a variety of events take place in the summer.
The nearby Piscinas with its Sahara like sand dunes is definitely worth a visit, like the  abandoned mine of Ingurtosu  which is incredibly evocative. The mine offers interesting tours where one can observe and rediscover the deserted mining village.
