THE LOCAL AREA
The Lerno Agritourism Farm is situated on the road between Pattada and Buddusò in the northern part of Sardinia. It is worth visiting Pattada, a typical Sardinian mountain village, full of traditional handicrafts, good hearty local food and the wonders of nature. Immersed in the stunning scenery of Mount Lerno, the village is known for its narrow, cobbled alleyways, granite houses with wooden doors, neoclassical palaces and Liberty-style buildings.
Pattada is famous both in Italy and around the world for its traditional handicrafts and in particular for the so-called 'pattadesi', handmade switchblade knives that are a speciality of the village. Forged with high-quality iron and with beautifully decorated handles, they really are masterpieces of craftsmenship and artistry. Another of Pattada's claims to fame is its cuisine: top-quality cheeses and other local dairy products (which are exported all around the world!), bread, gnocchetti (dumplings), ravioli and desserts such as nougat, macaroons and pabassinos (a typical Sardinian cake) will tantalize your taste buds on your journey through the traditions and flavours of Sardinia.
Not far from Pattada is the Mount Lerno Forest, where, in addition to lush mediterranean plant-life, you can spot rare Sardinian wildlife like the mouflon, the Sardinian deer, the wild boar and the hare. You can also partecipate in various recreational activities such as trekking and mountain biking. In Pattada each year there are a number of notable special events including, Foreste Aperte (a celebration of Sardinian culture with local products, horse-riding and much more), the World Rally Championship, and above all the now famous 'Time in Jazz' international jazz festival, organised by Paolo Fresu, which is held each year in Berchidda, very close to Pattada.
