Chestnuts galore!!!

chestnuts
In Italy, chestnuts are one of those ingredients (together with olive oil,  porcini mushrooms, novello wine and many others)  that mark the arrival of autumn. Often roasted in the streets by vendors  and  sold in little paper bags, they’re excellent to munch on while window shopping. But they are cooked and prepared in infinite ways and with infinite assortments.
As part of”  Autumn in Barbagia”  the village of  Aritzo, in the heart of Sardinia’s  “Barbagia” (inland), from the  29th to the 31st of October  will host  the “Sagra delle Castagne”,  literally  a  chestnut feast  where visitors can  savour  these roasted delicacies alongside a glass of  new (novello) red wine. There will be plenty of other engaging activities to do.  Exhibitions, music, artisanry and gastronomy.
