Enjoy the beach…in winter!

Walk Italy Coast 2010

Walk Italy Coast 2010 is an initiative eager to boost Italian coasts in the low season, as well as promoting environmental education.
With regards to Sardinia, near San Teodoro, the Marine Reserve of Tavolara will host a 40 minute excursion on Saturday 23rd of October.  Tavolara is an islet located in the north east of Sardinia and  is  one of the most extraordinary protected areas of the Mediterranean. This excursion is an  opportunity to discover and explore the coast under a new perspective….sea in winter, or out of season  gives quite different sensations.

The Prolago track starts from the Island of Tavolara (in Spalmatore di Terra) and will follow a circular route all the way back to the starting point. During the excursion,  environmentalists will explain how to “save and safeguard the sea”.
Transport to the island and back and all environmental explanations and discussions will be free of charge.

Departure is on Saturday the 23rd of October from the Port of  S. Paolo at 9.30 heading for Tavolara (the crossing lasts 30 minutes). At 10.30 the group will start the track to “ Spalmatore di Terra” returning at 11.30. Environmental education will continue until 12.30.  Return to the Port of S Paolo is at one o’clock lunchtime.

The Ferry service from the port of S Paolo to Tavolara is  from the 1st of May to the 30th of October.
