Golf courses that will satisfy the needs of both professionals and amateurs, nestled between the most extraordinary coasts of the Mediterranean. From the northern part of the Island in the lively and glamorous Costa Smeralda, to the quiet oasis amongst the hills of Pula in the south, Sardinia has some of the most loved courses by golfers worldwide: the Pevero, Is Molas and Is Arenas. What makes them so exclusive isn’t merely the variety and quality of their service and facilities but particularly the extraordinary natural setting composed of sun, beach and unspoilt corners that make the coursess unique and incomparable, regardless of the season.
The Pevero is one of the main features of tourism in the Costa Smeralda. Designed in 1972 by Robert Trent Jones, the golf course blends perfectly with the Mediterranean vegetation of Porto Cervo, thanks to a meticulous research on the wind, rain and temperature ranges of the area. The 18 holes, dotting a route of 6,107 metres are covered by 72 strokes (the so called “par”) and their characteristics offer a stimulating match for all golfers. The Pevero is distinguished by excellent facilities and can boast a sophisticated cuisine at its restaurant, a beautiful swimming pool, an elegant bar, a Pro-Shop and spacious and comfortable changing rooms. The golf carts are always spotlessly clean and particularly comfortable. Staff is always eager to be of assistance with golf equipment and the welcoming reception is one of the best in Europe.
Useful information: in this season the club’s reception, changing rooms, bar/restaurant and pro shop will be closed 2 days a week (Monday and Tuesday) but The golf course in itself is open. From Wednesday to Sunday, the entire Club will be open from 09.00 am to 17.30.
From the 10th of January to the 28th of February 2011, Reception and the Pro-shop will be closed. Whereas, the Bar will be open at weekends from the 15th of January to the 13th of February. From the 14th to the 28th of February 2011, the Club will close for two weeks. A very convenient Golf packet is available to those staying at the Cervo Hotel and is valid until the 17th April 2011.
Excellent service and a golf course in perfect condition 365 days a year. The course was created in 1975 in Santa Margherita di Pula in the south western coast of the Island, only 34 km from Cagliari. Alongside the Golf temptation, the club offers a gorgeous four star Hotel, a Club House with a bar, a restaurant and a Pro-Shop, a swimming pool and two tennis courts, as well as the possibility of renting golf bags, trolleys and buggies. The climate has made this course a favourite amongst golfers from the north, to the extent that this year it has been chosen as the training ground for the Swedish professional team. A merit also recognised by the Italian Federation, in 1998 4 professional tournamnents took place here, a record for an Italian golf course. The largest course is a so called “links”, which means it makes the most of the sand dunes. The 18 holes spread over an area of 6,383 metres with par 72: an extensive course and not at all easy, a challenge for a pro as well as an incentive for amateurs. The course, which was designed by the studio Cotton, Pennick, Laurie & Partners, is infact ideal for all levels and handicaps and offers the possibility of easy starts. The smallest golf course is of 9 holes and was designed by Franco Piras, ex player of the National team, currently a golf designer and partner of the “Gary Player Design”. The many services and facilities offered by Is Molas include a putting green, a pitching green, bunker practice, a driving range with 40 places of which 4 are sheltered, a restaurant, a bar, a bouvette, a pro-shop, a swimming pool, tennis, sauna, beauty center and golf school. Assistance to beginners is one of the strong points of Is Molas, which boasts a school capable of following a pupil step by step, thanks to a videorecording that immediately allows the golfer to observe his/her swing in “slow motion” and thus correct any possible errors on the spot.
the third Golf destination in Sardinia is the Golf Hotel Is Arenas on the central coast of the island, roughly 20 km from Oristano. The golf course was designed by the famous American architects Von Hagge, Smelek and Baril. The 18 holes (par 72) unravel in a private pine tree forest of 700 hectares and a total of 6300 metres. Every hole is framed by pine and juniper trees making the course incredibly suggestive and a unique route for players at all levels. The golf complex also has an executive course with 3 holes (par 9) and a marvellous driving range with 50 places of which 10 are sheltered. The club house, set inside the pine tree forest is an excellent meeting point and eating venue where one can enjoy typical Sardinian dishes and sip delicious local wines in a cosy and welcoming atmosphere. The pine tree forest opens onto a beach over 5 kn long which can be reached with a free shuttle service at all times, and is equipped with sunbeds and sun umbrellas.
