Oristano, Sardinia by urban trekking

Urban Trekking 2011, 31^st October, is an event that will take place in many towns in Italy. A way to know their secrets walking through their streets. Urban Trekking 2011 will take place in three Sardinia towns too: Nuoro, Oristano and Tempio Pausania.

Oristano will dedicate the event to the 150^th anniversary of the Italian unification, with a tour called “Le strade del tricolore” (streets of the tricolor).

The walk will start on the rhythms of the Risorgimento, played by the town band. Passing through Risorgimento streets of the old town of Oristano and the historical piazza just outside the walls, the urban path has been choose to touch symbolic and evocative places of Italian history.

When the tour will take a break, there will be readings of letters and testimonials of the many heroes of the Italian unification (such as: Carlo Pisacane and Giuseppe Garibaldi).

The historical memory path will end again with the music played by the town band, calling back the old songs of Italian history.

You can choose between two kind of tour: the long one (8.8 km for a 1 h and 50 m walk) and the short one (4.5 km for a 45 m walk). Neither of them require special athletic training.
