Stories of Sardinia: tales from Barbagia

DAY 1. Arrival at Mamoiada

The starting point of this Barbagia itinerary is Mamoiada. Depending on the arrival time, you can visit the town during the free first day.

DAY 2. Mamoiada and Orgosolo

The second day will be dedicated to Mamoiada. As in the best Barbagia cultural itineraries, it will consist of a guided tour of the archaeological site of Sa Perda Pintà and then the headquarters of Mamuthones and Issohadores. Everything will be accompanied by musical entertainment and zero-km cheese tasting, as well as by the scents of local wineries. At lunch you will take part in the Lunch with Sardinian Shepherds, one of the most appreciated and authentic appointment in Sardinia, while in the afternoon the Barbagia tour will continue towards the beautiful Orgosolo, with a visit to the museum town, famous for its wonderful murals.

DAY 3. Discovering cuisine and traditions

The third day will be a unique culinary experience with the friendly grandmother Chicca, who will guide you in the preparation of maharrones a poddihe, a type of fresh handmade pasta. The main dish of this day's lunch will be fresh pasta and obviously carasau bread, wine, fruit, sweets and the digestive will not be missing. During the afternoon, you will get to know the artisans and their work, visiting the mask and knife shop and discovering the preparation techniques of the famous carasau bread.

DAY 4. Cultural tour in Nuoro and Lollove

You will depart towards Nuoro, where you will retrace the footsteps of Grazia Deledda with a guided tour through the streets of the historic district of San Pietro, up to the Church of Solitude, which houses the writer's tomb. The next stop is the Museo del Costume of Nuoro, where you can admire thousands of finds including clothes, jewelry, textile artifacts, masks, musical instruments and utensils. In the afternoon you will arrive in Lollove, one of the oldest villages in central Sardinia, where you can take a real trip down memory lane thanks to the stories of the few remaining inhabitants.

DAY 5. Return home

After breakfast at the hotel, this Sardinia and Barbagia cultural itinerary will end and you can go back home.
