AREA
Oristano, which old name is Aristanis (among the ponds), is province chief from the 1974. The Oristano’s coast offers low and sandy seafloors, with rocky parts and calcareous peaks. Must see Torregrande, Santa Caterina di Pittinuri, Porto Alabe, Is Arenas and Putzu Idu. The Oristano area offers the possibilità to visit Tharros (an ancient Phoenician town) and Cornus ( an ancient Carthaginian town). Very beautiful i salso the Santa Cristina Nuraghic complexe, The Nuraghe Losa in Abbasanta and the thermae of Fordongianus (I century AD), the regional Natural Park of Monte Arci, the Protected Nature Marine Park of Penisola del Sinis- Isola Mal Di Ventre. Oristano hosts every year , in the carnival days,  the”Sartiglia”, a medieval carousel, while in Sedilo in July takes place the Ardia, a horse-ride in honour of Saint Costastino, which goes from “Su Frontigheddu, arrives to the Church. Both Sartiglia and Ardia are well-known in Sardinia, but they are now successful in Italy and in the foreign countries.
