The Gorropu Hotel (former Silana Hotel) is situated in Urzulei, in central Sardinia, just a few miles from the island's stunning beaches. Thanks to its position 1000 metres above sea level, the Gorropu Hotel enjoys breathtaking views of the Supramonte mountain range (Urzulei, Baunei, Orgosolo, Dorgali and Oliena).
The Gorropu Hotel has 36 rooms, all elegantly decorated with handcrafted ceramics, rugs and duvets, all made in traditional Sardinian style. The rooms of the Gorropu Hotel bear the names of nearby mountains, such as Donianigoro, Ghirofai, Istariddò, Turusele, Gorropu, and Dorghifè. THE LOCAL AREA
Urzulei is found in the Ogliastra region of Sardinia, known for its soaring mountains and its clear, turquoize sea. The limestone mountains of the Supramonte range are perfect for lovers of hiking and trekking, and the whole area boasts simply breathtaking scenery. There are some stunning beaches in the region, such as the Cala Luna, Cala Mariolu and Cala Goloritzè beaches, the incredible Pedra Longa beach in Santa Maria Navarrese, and those of the Gulf of Orosei: Osala, Cala Liberotto and Cala Ginepro. Make sure you don't miss a visit to the Fico, Bue Marino and Ispinigoli caves. Lovers of culture can enjoy Ogliastra's many museums and historical sites, such as the Sa Domu de S'Olia and Su Logue de S'Iscultura museums, the Spanish prison in Seui and the Domus De Janas (a prehistoric burial site) in Barisardo. In addition to trekking, in Ogliastra you can go free-climbing, diving, sailing, snorkeling and bird watching.
