Isola Rossa is a seaside resort on the north coast of Sardinia. Its name is due to the red colour of a small isle opposite the village. The greatest distinguishing features of Isola Rossa are the sea and surrounding landscape. Originally a fishing village, it has now become one of the most beautiful and evocative holiday destinations in Sardinia. The characteristic colours of the landscape, with pink granite rock, dense Mediterranean vegetation and white sandy beaches, make it a real paradise on earth. The shallow and crystal clear turquoise sea makes the beaches suitable for families with small children. There are many hotels and holiday homes in close vicinity, and Isola Rossa has all the necessary ingredients for a truly special holiday for couples, families and friends alike. The sea is ideal for a range of sports and activities, from surfing, windsurfing, snorkelling and scuba-diving, to marvel at the seabed and corals. The rich underwater life makes the area very popular with recreational fishing lovers. The town centre has an ancient Spanish tower, where the breathtaking beaches of Longa and La Marinedda can be admired. The tourist marina of Isola Rossa is fully equipped for mooring boats and has all services and facilities. The village is in a perfect position for exploring northern Sardinia, both by land and sea. Daytrips to the Maddalena archipelago with its beautiful isles, or Asinara on the north west coast, as well as many archaeological and sites of historic and cultural importance to visit. Dining is excellent, with fresh, local ingredients of the highest possible quality, at friendly prices.
